Bridges, Crowns and Veneers
Bridges
Dental bridges are fixed and cannot be removed. They are false teeth, anchored on neighboring teeth in order to replace one or more missing teeth.
The false tooth is fused in between two crowns that serve as anchors by attaching to the teeth on each side of the false tooth and thereby bridging them together.
This method can be used to replace a single missing tooth once gap has been present for six months.
Crowns
A crown is placed over a tooth that is badly damaged or decayed. A crown is made to look like your tooth. Many people call it a cap.
Why do I need a crown?
Crowns may be placed for several reasons: usually the tooth has been broken or damaged a great deal. As a result, a filling can't replace enough of the tooth or make the tooth strong enough.
Crowns can be used to improve appearance as well. They may be placed to cover misshapen or badly discoloured teeth.
Veneers
Porcelain veneers are the ultimate way to correct your smile, or to help restore front teeth that are damaged on the front outer surface.
What is a veneer?
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain, which is placed over the tooth. Often described as a false fingernail of porcelain.
How many appointments do I need for bridges, crowns and veneers and what happens during the appointments?
Bridges, crowns and veneers are usually completed within two appointments; they take time to make, as they are handmade. On the first appointment, we prepare the tooth and take impressions, which are then sent to our ceramist, we then place a temporary bridge/ crown/ veneer.
You will come back for your second appointment and we will remove the temporary that was placed, and fit the final crown/ bridge/ veneer.
We work alongside only the best ceramist to create all porcelain work.
